Crittenton Youth Services

The Crittenton Youth Services (CYS) program is a specialized structured group home that is adaptable to meet the individual needs of adolescent girls, ages 13 to 18, who have experienced family crisis as a result of moderate to severe behavioral, emotional, or related substance abuse issues. Informed by assessment, treatment plans are tailored to provide access to a host of therapeutic and educational programs. Lasting approximately 90 days, young women work to understand and overcome barriers to success and stability through group educations, academic support and credit recovery, as well as through referral to intensive individual therapy, family therapy, and substance abuse treatments as appropriate. All of our clients leave the program with improved communication and social interaction, an awareness of and control over anger and impulsive behaviors, and clearly defined academic and personal goals. Ultimately, we are preparing our clients to reunite with families or transition to independent living. 

Treatment Approach

FCA's structured group home provides a seven day-a-week structured environment. Clients in need of intensive individual and family therapy are referred to counseling sessions that utilize Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing through Square One outpatient services. This is to help clients understand and work through emotional and behavioral issues, and is a common referral for clients who have been victimized by significant trauma (such as sexual or physical abuse, or the death of a parent or sibling). Client's exhibiting serious substance abuse concerns may be referred to Square One's Substance Abuse and Co-Occurring Disorders treatment program, which utilizes the Hazelden Co-Occurring Disorders Group Therapy curriculum.

• Positive decision-making
• Independent living skills

Individualized middle- and high-school education, credit recovery, and GED Preparation for residential clients is provided through New Pathways Academy, an on-campus school that prepares program graduates for employment or the pursuit of higher education.
